We want the software and infrastructure we deliver to still be reasonable to maintain years after release — with clean interfaces, observable behavior and a documentation trail that outlives any single engineer.
Principles we hold to.

- We describe what a piece of work will cost, take and produce — including the risks — rather than shaping estimates around what a client wants to hear.
- Craft over performance.
- We prefer readable, well-tested systems to fast, brittle ones. Speed comes from good structure, not from cutting review.
- Long horizons.
- We design for the year after go-live, not only the launch. Systems that are easy to change are systems that keep earning their keep.
- Discretion.
- Client information, code and business context are treated confidentially by default, with formal agreements as a baseline.
Pragmatic, current, and boring where it matters.
Technology choices are made per project. We select tools that are well supported, widely known and appropriate for the constraint they solve — not because they are new, and not because they are familiar.
We use TypeScript, Python, Go and Java on the backend; React and modern front-end tooling on the web; native and cross-platform frameworks on mobile; and mainstream cloud platforms with infrastructure-as-code.
Where a stable, unremarkable technology fits, we pick it. Novelty for its own sake is a maintenance liability, and we optimize for total cost of ownership across the life of the system.
Named engineers. Written trails. Regular reviews.
Every engagement has named engineers with continuous involvement. Progress is reported in writing, with concrete artefacts — pull requests, running builds, updated documentation — rather than status slides.
We work well with in-house engineering teams. Where a client has an internal function, we operate as a specialist unit inside their processes rather than a parallel structure.
Built in, not added on.
- Reviewed changes.
All production code is reviewed by a second engineer before merge, with automated checks in the pipeline.
- Automated testing.
Unit, integration and end-to-end tests are treated as first-class deliverables and run on every change.
- Threat modeling.
For each meaningful system, we articulate what it protects, who might attack it, and how the design mitigates that.
- Least privilege.
Access to code, environments and data is scoped narrowly and reviewed on a schedule.
The best system is the one that still makes sense a year after you shipped it.
We favor small, well-named modules over sprawling ones. We prefer explicit interfaces to shared mutable state. We reach for the simpler tool when it covers the requirement, and we accept that "boring" is often a feature.
This is not a preference for slow work. It is a preference for work that is fast in the long run — because the next change is cheap, because the incident is short, because the new engineer can read the code.
